In a few sentences, tell us about your work and what inspires you?

My style is analogue photography. Growing up I was inspired by old family photos which probably sparked my love for film. I like to document people and the things that they’re passionate about whether that be in fashion, sport, film or music.

What are some of the biggest anxieties you face as a freelancer and how do you cope with these feelings?

Sometimes I get anxious being an analogue photographer. I’m very adamant that I only shoot with film which has lost me work in the past, but has definitely worked in my favour now. You never 100% know how the images are going to turn out and you can only see what you’re taking through the viewfinder. The process of waiting to receive your developed photos is nerve-racking at times. I also get anxious having to chase overdue payments with clients. You have to keep finding ways to politely chase your money, when they should have paid you on time. It can be exhausting depending on how long it takes.

You've been nominated for the Dazed 100, Congratulations. What would you do if you're awarded the prize of a 50k grant? And what inspired you to come up with this idea?

If I was awarded the 50k grant I would love to design and develop at least two more events for my platform ‘The Girls Don’t Cry Project’- originally an exhibition and short film which has evolved into a movement promoting female empowerment, mental health awareness and self-expression through creative arts. These events and workshops would focus on promoting good mental health, well-being and confidence. I was inspired by this by the experiences of myself and my friends. We need more platforms that provide tools on how to cope when we are finding issues in our personal lives difficult to deal with.

What is the biggest change you would like to see your generation achieve as a collective in the future?

I want us to carry on trying to end Racism! People are finally making more noise about this but there is still so much work to be done. This is definitely not an easy road either but through educating ourselves and each other we can at least start to make that change.
